Replanting the Rainforest
The Indonesian island of Sumatra has lost over half of its forest in the last 20 years, and the fashion industry is a major contributor.
Globally, more than 150 million trees are logged every year and turned into viscose and rayon fabric. Starting June 1st, 2018, every TAMGA purchase helps to reverse this damage by donating 1% of our annual sales to the Sumatran Orangutan Society (S.O.S.) and Orangutan Information Centre (OIC).
Our 1% for the planet partners are re-planting the rainforest, tree by tree. These incredible people are restoring one of the world’s most important biodiversity hotspots and bringing back the habitat for four critically endangered species - Orangutans, Rhinos, Elephants and Tigers.
Forest Friendly Fashion
We believe that ancient and endangered forests have no place in our closet, that’s why we only source sustainable wood-cellulose fibres. We do this by using fibres that are FSC certified, such as TENCEL™, EcoVero™ and Lenzing Modal®. These amazing Lenzing fibres are not only forest-friendly, but they are also processed in a closed-loop system where 99.8% of the water and solvents are recycled and reused.
To help re-plant what’s been lost, we’ve created a limited-edition Trees Please Tee. This tee is made from 100% Lenzing Modal®, an eco-friendly fabric sourced from sustainably managed beech wood forests in Europe. Ten dollars from every shirt sold goes directly to the Sumatran Rainforest, where our partners at S.O.S. and O.I.C. are running crucial re-forestation projects.
